My dreams miss me by Maria Terezia FerenczOh yes my dreams miss me
sleep holds no solace for me
my subconscious leaves messages
constantly
but I never pick them up
Carefully I
tiptoe around the parapraxis
avoiding these sharp points
that make me bleed
Oh yes my dreams miss me
but despising their truth
I refuse to sleep 05/18/2007 Author's Note: Just a ditty caused by the Abe Lincoln commercial....but can someone tell me why a beaver, diver and Abe??? Or is it a ground hog? I just don't get it...

Posted by Genevieve Sturrock on 05/18/07 at 01:19 PM love the poem...not having the seen the commercial, i have no idea what you're referring to...so, the poem stands very well on its own.
Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 05/18/07 at 05:39 PM Haven't seen the commercial either, but the poem has a definite surreal nature, as things would seem when one refuses to sleep. Thanks also for your comment and support on my latest Maria.
Posted by Laura Doom on 05/21/07 at 03:57 PM Another deprived of exposure to the commercial, but I'd hazard a guess that there might be some kind of parallel to the Electric 6 'Gay Bar' melange? No, I thought not....whatever, I despise the underlying truth of parapraxes *tongue firmly in cheek* :)
Posted by Richard Vince on 08/28/25 at 11:56 PM Like the other commenters, I am perplexed by the author's note (and like Ms Doom, I am visualising Electric 6's "Gay Bar" video). Regardless, the poem itself reminds me of some of the more illogical reasons I don't sleep as much as I need to; coincidentally (or maybe inevitably), it is nearly 1am as I write this comment. :) Congratulations on POTD. :)
