A Fool's Dream

by Alisa Js

in a distant land from another time
I had purpose yet fulfilled,
with ignorant eyes and a foolish heart
I pressed forward, believing
beyond circumstance
and reality's blatant curse,
I still had a chance at nirvana
and marveled
at all I thought I'd recognized at long last
there,
on the horizon of future dreams ...

such bliss was mine all for the taking
reach down and scoop with trembling hands,
marred and scarred, these blood stained hands
convinced I too, had meaning
ha! what a lie!

destinies of greatness
avenues to fame and curious blows to this head of mine
must have contorted my framework of reference
for living, it seems
as I remain ever the watchful observer
on the sidelines of life,
as the crowds stampede by ...

slowly and deliberately the truth sinks in
saturates and communicates ever so brazenly
I am out of step
misplaced my edge,
lost my capacity to think somewhere along the days
between slippery slopes and impulsive schemes,
I have lost my ability to see
beyond this next step of my beggared belief,
such glory was never intended for the likes of me ...

''.....meaning? Well, its what you intend to give. 'YOU', your intending self, pitched against the multitude, within and without as well, struggles, striving to BECOME, to give meaning to life. Life recompense what we give to life. Its meaningful when we fill it with meaning, we assume is meaningful. Its a dream , rather a refined dream.

Says to me one can have expectations beyond reality, dreams without ground, and if those dreams are too desired, the reality hits hard, hits very hard! Very effective, very emotional.
