Nantucket

by Melissa Panther

So I
Watch
and wander
I wait
for trains
where there are no
tracks
for traveling along
trails
there's no countryside
only cranberry bogs
and sand
waves and ocean, ocean
ocean
yet we're
all works in progress
when it's humid
and there's
rain drops-summer

Author's Note: While living on Nantucket Island I'd walk to work and these are the thoughts that would cross my mind.

I like how this reminiscent poem lingers on the tongue before it gently slides off into the sound. Stylish stuff, Melissa!

I enjoyed the meandering of this, waiting for trains where there are no tracks, the ever present dripping. Thank you.
