Thursday's Lullabye by Elizabeth SeagoAnd I swim
Through the blue abyss
That is
Your sin.
The water is thick
And every kick
Is a fight.
But if it made you smile,
This is how I would live my life.
So I kick and stroke,
Destination unknown.
Hoping only to find a home
In the good of you.
And I ask for not much more
Than you to deplore
In my fantasy of swimming ashore
And your life breathing into me evermore
With three coughs and a smile,
I'd let you hold me for awhile
And you'd fall for the love
Whose words had never really been enough,
But was entirely too tough
To give up.

Posted by Steven Kenworthy on 05/08/07 at 12:57 AM it's all about never giving up isn't it? a nice little aquatic bedtime tale here for us lover types. "if i made you smile this is how i would live my life"...this is bravery. this is the sound of an unselfishness i think everyone wishes they could live with but can't. this poem is ultra sweet though and i can see where your life is going with this piece. the rhyming is cute, but i prefer the free verse of course. this felt like a song though...something to dream off to. much love as always es. |
Posted by Jared Fladeland on 05/08/07 at 08:40 PM the rhythm is exquisite. it's very hip hopish in how it delivers a hook and then a punch |

Posted by Michelle Angelini on 05/14/07 at 03:16 AM Beautiful - I get a different rhythym out of it. For me it's flowing and gentle. CONGRATULATIONS ON POTD! (this is no taco, huh?) ;-)
