Get up off your knee
and get back in your chair -
the restaurant patrons
are starting to stare.

Just look at them -
oohing and ahing and sighing
and smiling, and look -
I think one of them's crying!

They think you're adorable,
you with the rose
and the charm
and the ring
and the bells on your toes

but I wish you'd just sit down
and finish your plate -
I don't take proposals
on second dates.
