middling

by Maria Francesca

I'm too old to climb a tree
I'm too young to retire
too thin to please a fetishist
too heavy to admire
too sane to be a lunatic
but weird -
and here's the rub:
too middle class
to kick some ass
but dark enough to snub
so where I fit's a mystery-
my niche is still a riddle;
too fast to lose,
too slow to win
I'm somewhere in the middle.
