warsong by Kalikala SmithTell me that there was a reaction
Tell me that something happened.
We didnt just go there to fight for nothing
We went because of obligation.
Tell me that there is a purpose
Tell me that were doing something right.
We didnt just go there to fight for nothing.
We went because were better than them.
And all the killers of our nation,
Stand tall and proud for what they believe in.
And all the sinners of our great land,
Turn and whisper what were we thinking?
Tell me that were against brainwashing
Tell me that everyone has a beautiful heart.
We love our enemies just as much as we hate them
And thats why we need to tear them apart.
Tell me that just know whats better
Tell me that they dont have a clue.
Were showing them how to grow up the right way.
Strong, proud, and true.
And all the killers of our nation,
Stand tall and proud for what they believe in.
And all the sinners of our great land,
Turn and whisper, what were we thinking?
Tell me that were not in it for the money
Tell me that weve got their best interests at heart.
We dont need them to survive with us here.
We just want them to have a better start.
Tell me that were not lying
Tell me that were true as can be
We just cant control who is dying
Were just slowly falling apart.
And all the mothers of our nation,
Cry and weep for who they believed in.
And all the children of our great land,
Turn and scream, what were they thinking?

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 03/29/07 at 04:37 AM Definitely delivered with power and control. Makes me weep. Good repetition, good technique of engaging the audience with the phrase "tell me...." The title is perfect - the challenge speaks loudly to all who read. |
