jeremy by Jared Fladelandjeremy will never be understood.
he's too microscopic to get the love he needs,
but he's a few atoms too large too disappear forever.
He speaks in flourescent light bulbs,
neon similes,
and glow in the dark metaphors.
no one really understands him
when he barks like a dog and walks like a man.
jeremy, to his friends, is like the nearly dead fly
buzzing at the corner of the wall and ceiling:
you know he's going to perish any second,
so there's no real reason to swat him down.
inside of jeremy, there's an ancient mayan goldmine.
He knows this.
And that's why Jeremy smiles all the time. 03/28/2007 Posted on 03/28/2007 Copyright © 2025 Jared Fladeland

| Posted by Glenn Currier on 06/19/09 at 03:13 PM You took my imagination flying all over the place with this one and left me a little breathless with a crooked wing and ruffled tail feathers. Clever piece. I read it because I have a nephew whom I love named Jeremy. But you took me somewhere else entirely. |
