west pier by Peter Humphreysrust
wracked
random
rods
reddening
rotting
ruthlessly
riddled
ruthfully
riding
riddling
sands
sad
sight
so
sad
bad
night
fire
bright
wrecking
memories
skeletoned
in the tide
beside
the languid
shore
no more
a questing
go 03/25/2007
Author's Note: A number of years ago, the West Pier was tragically destroyed by fire. All that remains of this beautiful Victorian structure is a sad rusting skeleton abandoned to the relentess sea.

Posted by Gregory O'Neill on 03/26/07 at 07:29 AM Sad the pier was lost. Thanks for this snapshot of what remains. |
Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 03/29/07 at 02:15 PM I like being able to stop and focus on each word you offer, vividly painted here. Many times what is left behind can be more emotive than the original structure. Thank you. |
