Tomorrow Never Knows

by Tony Whitaker

Quite often I wondered
what caught my
conscious desire so
completely with
nothing in common between

Her free-wheeling
way reminds in kind
those younger days when
the way forward
seemed an endless
road receding into a void
while living life
filled full of music
smokes and jokes with
a dash of sex to go

I relive those
retrospections with a
calm curiosity as
time has tamed the
beast into a cooled
jewel that shines when
the light of beauty fills
this shaded path I
now walk snaking
to itsÂ’ inevitable end

I look upon
her with the
constant craving
akin to a cat on
a couch captivated
by a bird on a
window sill with
only the glass between
an impossible
boundary to bridge
and forced to truckle

Tangy thought provoking slice of life Tony. Glad I happened upon it. Learned a new word too! ...truckle.
