Life's Seasons

by Alisa Js

tell me again how you almost fell over
I want to understand this struggle better
will it help me recover?
or drive our depression even deeper
into that abyss that awaits, greedily ...

have we forgotten how to reach for that window
they tell us is up there, somewhere
it's getting harder to look for the key
along dusty ledges smeared with smudges to hide any visitors clear
time tumbles forward
and I'm grasping for reason,
I'm frantic, I think ...

is that autumn approaching?
with its shadows across this garden
squinting, we stare nervously,
at those blooms there, now wilting
or simple weeds grinning
nefariously,
with no certain harvest
what to do?
sit here and wait for winter?
or get ready for spring
pick up these smatterings around me ...

Thought provoking to be sure, with some worthy application of imagery such as reaching for the window. Reminds me of a housefly trying to get back outside.
