Listen!

by Alisa Js

They came in the flavor of
'What about me?'
Satellites orbit to the tune
Of their endless swooning,
Listen ...

Jump on the roadshow, it's heavenly
And gush,
Forget everything and anything concerning you
Nothing much matters there
If it's not about them,
and their relentless playing
Of that mantra ...

We left our egos and cares at the door
What a fabulous way to escape,
For a moment or two
Longer even,
What a great place to visit
If you're clueless and carefree,
and not for yourself or your feelings
Feelings?
Why bother if it's not about them
They're the only ones in that universe,
The comets and stars all agree
Burning out when spent,
Fall to the earth if they're lucky
Or unfortunate as the case may be ...

I got dizzy up there
Without any oxygen,
Guess I'm doomed to wander
In this realm on my own,
My wings were singed
Everytime I ventured too close to the sun,
and tumbled back to this silent abode
Some call it reality others, a joke
Where I now sit and gaze from afar,
On those cloudless evenings
When the stars do appear,
If I focus real hard and concentrate
I can still hear the melody in those whispered night teases
Swirling around in my head,
If I listen ...

I miss it up there,
Sometimes ...

Alisa, the depth of emotions you impart in your poetry cannot be described. Beautifully written and interesting stellar imagery.

Quite the flight of fancy here. Applying my own experiences of "space cadet," this aptly stands as metaphor for drug tripping.
