Another Bad Rhyme

by Michael Anthony

I have attempted, I tell you,
to be pre-emptive and sell you
the idea, this notion of mine.
When penning a verse, man,
There could be none worse than
to set in motion another bad rhyme.

So, just for this minute,
with patience infinite,
read the words that met to your rage.
Although I perspire, true,
I do not aspire to
let another bad rhyme to the page.

I’ll leave out the reps, sir,
Use Roget and Webster
to imbibe in an unforgettable line.
But while I’m contrite,
I can’t help but to write,
Or inscribe a quite regrettable rhyme.

For your lovers and friends,
might I suggest that you send
a sonnet you write for the time,
you find your one other
in the arms of your brother,
dressed in the bonnet of another bad rhyme.

If you wake up at noon
and like an old country tune,
you’re naked with a cheap box of wine.
Be glad it’s your luck
under the seat of the truck,
are your socks, and another bad rhyme.

Now you think you don’t need it,
Oh, how we live it and breathe it
‘tis life that keeps as all prime.
So drink up the rum, sport,
today you’ll find comfort
‘tween the sheets of another bad rhyme.

While they're truly a curse..yes there is something worse...than a really bad rhyme...an iamb out of time.(Enjoyed this!)
