Moon King

by Rhonda Maneki

He sat upon his throne in shining splendor.
The constellations his orchestra
as he moved stars and planets
creating a symphony of brilliance.
Harmonic vibrations tenderly swept
through the ebony velvet of endlessness,
each star, each miracle within his Universe
filled with life...

It was beautiful...

She knelt upon the edge of a
small insignificant bank beside
a rippling brook, her fingers
dipped within the coolness of water.
feeling the current move around her..

Her eyes lifted to the heavens just as
a star shot across the sky, she closed
her eyes then made a wish.

Oh, so far away her wish was so pure it rang
throughout the Universe.The Moon King,
Heard the wish in tones and
harmonies, her wish pristine to his soul.
It touched him.

He sat upon his throne then sent
another star across her sky,
she wished again, that same wish.

How uncomplicated - and pure her wish was.
He was amazed that anyone would wish
for something so simple.
Not, gold, not riches, not a
flaming horse from hades..
but, this wish.. was special.

Something in his heart tugged -

He decided to visit this simple
wisher of the wish. He gathered
His mantle of stars and shimmer then
swooped to Earth in array of light...
as bright as the sun..

He saw her so simple so plain..
kneeling beside her tiny melodic brook.
His heart swelled with a sudden emotion.

She looked up just as he was vanishing
into the forest...

She made another wish..
the same wish..
"to be loved"

He stopped, his heart full,
as He turned - walking back to where she knelt.
He stood unable to say anything.
He touched his hand to her hair..
she lowered her eyes and bowed low to him

Suddenly, he knew within him,
her wish was coming true,
He loved her in her plainness,
and gentleness.

He truly saw her for who she was.
She felt his thoughts reach into her,
caress her...
She saw him, the real him,
beyond the mantle of stars,
she loved him.

I have granted your wish,
he spoke , his voice trembling..
I love you...

She wept tears of shimmering light,
she was humbled and filled with
love for she saw his heart and soul.

Yes, her wish had been granted,
as was his unknown wish granted also,
to be loved...

He held her within
the palm of his hand
then soared back to the moon,
He gave her the stars in the sky
and the moon on a string.

Their melody resounding
through the Universe.
in harmony...

Her laughter can be heard,
His stars still shoot,
across the velvet sky,
when they make love.

Author's Note: This was written by itself - inspired by a moon and loves promise upon stars. Gary Wood, was kind enough to add vocals and a melody to this. Please check it out at Gary's site. I'm link challenged! *lol*
