Rock-A-Bye

by Kyle Anne Kish

Keep the music loud, please.
Make it vibrate through my brain
calling me back to some velvet pond
where black rocks skip
over the mossy domicile of my mind.

Allow tremble of treble
to fixate on pulsing gray matter
as I get lost in the muse of the moment
where time and distance and hurts
serve as comfortable shoes.

Turn up the volume.
Shelve my heaving soul
for but an instant
in the candor of lyrics jumping wildly
and make me forget.

Raise the level of noise.
Don’t dim the lights
or tread softly
and make me fade
into yesterday’s caresses.

Keep the music loud, please
and let me dance my dance.

Kyle Anne, I'm not sure what drew me to read this poem, but I love it, since it pulsates with energy and rhythm. I know this poem isn't recent and maybe your style has changes since it was written, but the words whirl and rock moods.
