Pierced by Charles M HarrisonFrom hidden bow flew the arrow
true was the aim, the mark certain
deep it struck,
mortal was the wound
the blood flowed
dark, tainted, black
it flowed
dark with pain
tainted with disappointment
black with rejection
a cancerous mass
it beat, one less beat,
with each beat,
that it beat
the blood flowed
dark, tainted, black
it flowed
dark with despair
tainted with sorrow
black with scorn
shapeless
lifeless
empty
From hidden bow flew the arrow
true was the aim, the mark certain
deep it struck,
mortal was the wound
the blood flowed
light, pure, red
light with joy
pure with kindness
red with compassion
a shimmering mass
it beat, one more beat,
with each beat,
that it beat
the blood flowed
light, pure, red
light with happiness
pure with goodness
red with life
limitless
alive
fulfilled
From hidden bow flew the arrow
true was the aim, the mark certain
deep it struck,
mortal was the wound
the blood flowsÂ….

Posted by Christel Crews on 02/16/07 at 05:35 AM so glad you reposted this piece! its a tricky one.. i had to read it twice :) or maybe its after midnight and i'm just exhausted... anyways, i love the descriptive words that repeat, yet in the repeat, it creates a completely different picture! a very clever piece! |
Posted by Rhonda Maneki on 02/16/07 at 11:45 PM I love the energy of this - the creativity is wonderful. |
Posted by Michelle Angelini on 02/18/07 at 04:55 AM Charles, what a vivid description between hate and love. Both wound, but the difference is in the results. Wonderful!

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 02/22/07 at 02:30 AM Nice construction - I like the contrasts while using the same refrain. I like the single descriptive words then followed by details. Thank you!! |
