The Mellos by Amy NiggelFlames devoured more than wood and paper
they swallowed lifetimes of memmories.
And when the sun rose the ashes told the tale
a lost dream, a burnished hope.
But if the pheonix bird can learn to fly
then so shall we arise from ashes.
We have faith so all is not lost
we have love, we can go on.
Belief can move mountains
It can rebuild a home. 02/08/2007 Author's Note: The Mellos Retreat Center in Jacksonville Vermont succombed to a terrible fire early on Tuesday February 6, 2007. It left a family of 6 homeless and it left a great many more with aches of longing for the comfort that the center had provided. In talking to the owners they were sad but greatful that everyone got out safe. When asked what they were going to do they replied 'We are going to rebuild, we will be open again by Christmas.' Such an amazing family, my heart and prayers are with them through this.

Posted by Gabriel Ricard on 02/09/07 at 04:06 AM Well, this poem will certainly be as good as a prayer as they could ever hope to get. Really nicely done. |
