Circles

by Alisa Js

she lay there small and still
for an indeterminate time
it could have been hours or days
weeks even,
there was no telling
there was no clock in the room
nor did she care to look now ...

the walls fell away and slipped to nowhere specific
it was quiet there
so dark
what to do when there are so few left options
carry on like before?
perish that thought!
yesterday is fading
tomorrow not yet
and today made no sense
so there she stayed ...

where are those answers that were once standing?
shades of extreme came and took them
to someplace
who cares anymore
what does it matter
and she continued to run in circles not round
but crippled and bent from exhaustion ...

The heavy feeling I got from reading this poem had me in tears. Yes, when the emotional visuals in a poem can do that ... ya done good. Thanks for this Alisa. You put words and a face on how I have felt before.

Interesting. I really liked the 'the walls fell away' part. It really made the poem excellent.
