Less Equals More

by Genevieve Sturrock

you gave me a gift once
kind words softly spoken
and a featherlight caress
i carry it within me
a spark, a glimmer
of a promise made
at the end of us
unbidden
but not
unwelcome

over the years it has remained
hidden away from
the darkness of my world
i pull it out and
cup my feeble hands
around its warmth
just to remember
that once
for a moment
i was loved

and within its glow
come thoughts of you
unbidden
but not
unwelcome
memories of a time
less complicated
less painful
just less

such a sweet, endearing piece! i agree with lori, once you have been loved, you are forever loved b/c that is what lingers throughout the years.. no matter where life takes you. we all need memories of real love to remind us in the hard times :)

Romance not forgotten. It's written down here like a temple one retreats to as a refuge from the exsquistely executed chaos of today. Very well concieved. Another POTD!

I remember a song in which there was this line, To Be Loved, Oh What A Feeling, To Loved! This subtle poem conjured back that emotion to me. Thank you, kindly. I needed it so.

A felt a gentle quiet while reading this lovely piece, reflective and hauntingly familiar I think - to most of us. Simply exquisite... Rhonda
