Fallen Stars of the Tarnished Screen

by Genevieve Sturrock

rumor has it
you slept with my grandma
and my mamma too
you might be my dad
and i'm lost and confused
but you say you're not
and let's face it, you're hot
so i'll take a dip
in that family sex pool

the sweetest thing
is drinking and sampling men's charms
but you weren't impressed
and that left me alarmed
i'd been loving and leaving
like some $10 whore
terrified i wouldn't
be 'all that' anymore
so i chased you down
just to prove that i could
and you left your bride
like i knew that you would
and now we're together
as if it's okay
to crumple up hearts
and throw them away

that little black book
that schedules your life
was discovered and raided
by your live in un-wife
and when she uncovered
your historical past
she got hurt and sucked into
an ensemble cast
to air all your laundry
on live action t.v.
where she accused you
of dishonesty

i'm sick and tired
of these immoral dames
who pretend to be victims
of men's vicious games
girls if you want
dignity and respect
then open your minds
and close your damned legs!

Author's Note: I am sick of 'chick-flicks' about confused, self-absorbed women who sleep around and then wonder why their lives are a cesspool.

love it! you know, i have just grown to accept the fact that hollywood will make movies of immorality and it doesn't catch me offguard anymore.. its sad how desensitized i've become.. this is a creative write and its very well done too! love the last stanza especially!

lol..lol..You are absolutely right!...It's kinda like a cubic zirconia and a flawless diamond, from a certain perspective they make look exactly the same, well, almost...hard to tell one from the other, kinda. But upon closer inspection and where it really counts, there is nothing that compares to the brillance and fire of the real thing. Genuine!! Just like the fabrication of the whole media, glamorizing that which has no substantial basis in the real world and certainly not something our youth should be emulating. Sadly and sometimes tragically, they do....Character, intregity and honor are lacking today in our world, definitely. As a romantic soul I do write about love, almost endlessly... However, the kind of love I refer to is the jaw-dropping, life changing forever with your soulmate kind of love.. and yes, I do believe in that kind of lifetime commitment... aloha to you and yours. Thank you for stopping by and for your kind sentiment.. alisa..;-)

don't need music to get this one. :) fun, bright...and witty snap at the films that are ruining many theater screens across the nation. good stuff here GS. ciao!

kudos! the critics say boffo! a new twist on old Hollywood scripts has the audiences cheering and the self-absorbed "victims" running for the hills! Four stars!

this cuts to the quick and then some and delivers heaps and gobs on our contemplative plates. thanks for this quick delivery Genevieve, I was starving for such fare more than I know.

Sad and very funny both at once. Glad you had the energy to get up and say this, and in fine style too!

The imagery and build up to your final stanza is great. There was a familiar feel to it from the start, but your ending was a one two punch! Write On! - RCat
