Irreparable ?

by Alisa Js

you needed me
and before another wasted moment
I was there,
to comfort you
and help you feel safe ...

and for the first time in a long time
I believed in our love,
treasured the atmosphere
charged now with caring and kindness,
this is how I always thought it could be
my whole life,
dreamed it would be
to feel your love
all around me ...

and I thought for certain
this time,
old wounds were finally healed,
I had this promise of a new day
everyday,
and inside
felt satisfied,
better than before
better than ever ...

until suddenly, last night
when I needed you
to understand,
and care ...

you shut me down
tuned me out,
just like you used to
like its always been
and will always be ...

how foolish of me!
not to understand
for the one millionth time
whats so painfully clear,
as long as there's a benefit
without any pain,
without any inconvenience
you're all smiles,
full of sweet words ...

you say you're my mother
but are you?

Whoa, that last stanza was unexpected! You had me all the way and soooo sad, "you say you're my mother, but are you?" when you needed her. Now that is a poem of desperation. Very nice Alisa!

I like the surprise ending Alisa, not realizing that this was about and to your mother. You might even consider using a question mark in the title as well to reflect or foreshadow the main theme.
