Come Back

by Steve Baba

Is there a reason why I
Miss you so much?
The leaves are turning
Orange and red, fall
Is here and I am still alone
Without you,
I sip my coffee and watch
The fish swim back and
Forth in the translucent
Water, my heart beats slowly
As it waits for you
To come back to me.

Such patient longing here.

I really enjoyed this piece, Steve. I like how you've compared the boring everyday things that we do with the unstoppable yearning that one can feel for another. A nice juxtaposition here -Kat :)

Aloha Steve, In this piece, you have captured well the essence of longing as the persona waits for his beloved. Well done. alisa ;-)

Haunting and sad. A piece that many can relate to--the feelings are clear here. Time has a different feel when we're waiting. I like this.

a beautiful notion, this poem, which leaves me to ponder, given it was written in 2007 if that love ever returned?
