Only Words by Alisa JsI have missed you
but is it really me missing you?
or something that you said
it's funny how we tend to use words
common to us all,
regardless of where we came from
where we live now
words,
have the power to give one hope
encourage the spirit
bring absolute joy
yet,
without those very same words
an emptiness prevails
why?
tell me words
but make them real,
show me more
make me stay,
and not walk away with a crushed and broken heart
waiting for words
that may never come,
may never be said ...

Posted by Genevieve Sturrock on 01/26/07 at 03:35 AM Wonderful how you can convey so much meaning in so little space. You are very good with words. |
Posted by Tony Whitaker on 01/26/07 at 07:52 AM I like the way you set the meter in the first stanza, more like prose yet you have those rests with 'words', 'yet' and 'why'. Then the last stanza is more of a waltz, with the first three lines in pure three quarter's time. Another good one Alisa. |
Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 01/28/07 at 02:08 AM The power of words aptly captured, as well the turmoil of wishing and waiting for the right ones to be said. |
Posted by Steve Baba on 12/11/08 at 07:51 AM Strong and sensitive at the same time. I felt this poem in my heart and could understand how you felt. Great job Alisa! |
