Bring Him Home

by Meredith C Hartwell

He's rounding third,
and he's looking for the sign.
He's not sure if he'll make it,
but the game is on the line.
Here I am,
and I'm screaming out his name.
I'm gonna show him that I love him,
and that love will never change.
Because I'm here for him,
and I'll cheer for him,
and I'll be here all day long.
Bring him home.
Bring him home.
I'm here waiting...
Bring him home.

He got a call,
and he's going off to war.
And we're not sure if he'll make it,
but that's what a soldier's for.
Here I am,
and I'm screaming out his name.
I'm gonna show him that I love him,
and that love will never change.
I know I'm right for him,
and I'll fight for him,
and I'll be strong while he's gone.
Bring him home.
Bring him home.
I'm here waiting...
Bring him home.

And he came home...

He came home
to the home I'd made for us.
And we're not sure if we'll make it,
but I'll give it all I've got.
Here I am,
and I'm screaming out his name.
It's not enough to say I love him,
because somehow his love changed.
He said, It wasn't you,
I need something new,
gotta see what else is
out there waiting...

So Jezebel,
when he's looking for that sign,
and you're not sure if you'll make it,
and you're getting tired of trying...
Bring him home.
Bring him home.
I'm here waiting...
Bring him home.

Bring him home.
Bring him home.
I'm still waiting....
Bring him home.

Author's Note: I'm glad this finally found its way. I've been trying to bleed these words since softball games in July, and I ended up with a song.

Good morning Meredith. I felt compelled to sikt down and put this to music. It is a simple acoustical 4-chrod progression (D, Dsus4, C, G) then on the "Bring him home" I dis a walk down from Cadd9, E7, Asus, G/D. It is a beautiful lyric and I will work on it to make it even more so. But remember to bleed is to know you are alive and love will come again if he doesn't come home to all those that read this! Excellent.

Nicely done...I tend to write lyrics myself, so really enjoyed this and could hear my own tune.

I'm tried. He just won't go anywhere.

And by that I meant "I".
