nailing myself up faster than you can throw a stone by Vere Mantratriadgive me a goblet
give me thorns
give me a cross
Ill make a martyr
made of bones and
putrid sweat collecting
behind knees still
covered by unmistakable
flesh and soaked with
a crime that Id commit
again and again just to
conjure up some old magic
that requires eyes and lies
for you to cook up in that
kill me with a wave brain
that Id shove my scars in
up to the hilt if youd only
let me in three times or
five if youd prefer or just
call me Lucifer if you cant
find a brighter star to
make your way by so you
could point me some direction
with a misdirection of would
have should have never could
be your intimidation only
urged me on as I sat with a
vacant stare at what I thought
was your heart but it was just
a lump of meat that rots and
leaves a stench that I can not
wash off though you were able
to wash the stink of mine
pointedly from your boots just
as soon as you made it out of
my clutches that I called an
embrace of everything you
ever were to anyone so I
nail myself down again because
its the only thing that makes sense
out of these senses that I can
no longer trust Ive got some sort
of disorder when it comes to the
breaking down of what my veins
assured me most assuredly so I
follow ghosts through buildings
and see you in every shadow
menacing over my body but it
doesnt matter because it was all
smoke whether I blew it in your
face or not so why shouldnt I?
and as dead and buried as I
may be now I realize that
I walked on water for you but
you were looking for someone
who could swim when
you threw them in 01/09/2007 Posted on 01/10/2007 Copyright © 2025 Vere Mantratriad

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 01/10/07 at 04:07 PM Double wow!! I didn't think you could hold it together, but you did - like a meteor burning through the atmosphere, and if this guy didn't feel the impact from the crater, he's living in a different galaxy. |
Posted by Genevieve Sturrock on 01/10/07 at 05:06 PM I wish I had your talent with words! This is spectacular! |
Posted by Anne Boulender on 01/11/07 at 12:23 PM yeah vere this is really good. you don't use any line breaks but i guess you can carry it off. not only is it good, it would be a real good song too. actually this is better than most songs that are good too. its pretty up to. i could say why, but that would take up too much space. |
Posted by Bet Yeldem on 01/13/09 at 01:31 AM I love the last four lines. Powerful stuff. Isn't it the truth, too, how funny life is. The flip side of that final punch reminds me of a Damien Rice song -- "you gave me miles and miles of mountains when I asked for the sea." Always a pleasure to read you. |
