Resolving 2006 by Sandy M. HumphreyNo New Years resolutions did I make
But I chose to resolve the problems of the last year
No more obsessing I will put them away
Looking at today and the promise that it holds
I will let go of burdens of pain and stories that are old
Without reservation to my partner I can turn
No false expectations and we are free to learn and grow
Enriching the relationship that has endured through years
Surviving troubled times when tears showered down
Giving each other a chance to get to know me now
Traveling new paths that do not always connect
But from time to time they are sure to intersect
And we could possibly find a familiar face waiting
At the crossroad of discovery and understanding
The clarity in our hearts will tell us it was worth the journey
01/03/2007 Author's Note: Sometimes the best resolutions are the ones we make within our own spirits...it isn't the destination but the journey and the lessons you learn along the way.

Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 01/04/07 at 01:53 AM A worthy poem to start 2007. I especially like how that first stanza speaks to and for me. Much truth and wisdom in the Author's Note as well. |
