Sunrise Over Bear Lake by Leonard M HawkesMorning there was never alone,
Below the peak, above the lake;
But few we were who witnessed
As it appeared in the East
Like a giant star glistening
From Laketown to St. Charles;
Glinting out the jagged plateau of Wyoming,
Infusing shimmering gray to famous blue.
And humbly, below in the lingering cool
'Neath maples and banked by birches,
Swan Creek sang softly,
Nurturing her glamorous child.

Posted by George Hoerner on 12/08/07 at 05:00 AM I had a friend, a minister, back in NJ. We would take his youth group backpacking on the Appalachian trail in the Shenadoah national park. You had to be at least 12 years old and he used to call it their puberty rites. It was boys and girls and we had some great times. The first stop the kids wanted to make when it was over was McDonclad's. |
