always the same

by Morgan D Hafele

i'm not sorry for the words
but i am sorry that you heard them
and the truth is,
i never should have said anything to begin with.

that's part of the problem of us
though, isn't it?
my mouth never ceasing it's mindless mumbling
and your ears catching
every useless detail.

and they are useless...
not unlike myself, but at least,
from time to time... i can
still make you laugh,
even through our disagreements.

To be able to make others laugh certainly counts for something in this world. This poem acts as a good reminder that we're all responsible for our own words and actions. Thanks, I too still sometimes say and do things I later regret.
