The Colour of...

by Maureen Glaude

coats of male cardinals
and Father Christmas

cranberries and poinsettia
stripes ’round sweet canes
children’s flushed cheeks

Canadian Fridays’
pins, jerseys, jackets
in support of our soldiers
away in service

the wearing of the reds
this Christmas

A fine poem Maureen to reflect the current state of Christmas here in Canada, but also traditionally as in the second staza. What would the season be without the colour red...and snow!!! If we ever get any haha.
