jeannie

by Peter Humphreys

I
am sure
it is right
yes I am sure
for sure I am
there she is
amidst the flight
I see her as they
home left
then right
and seeming
circle
the old spire
first black
then pigeon white
wobbling on
her too high heels
mascara streaked
lipstick red smudged
lip swollen
our jeannie's
coming
home
again full sore
I am sure
yes I am sure
for sure
I am
it is
wrong

An interesting dance of words, a circling of returning once "again full sore". The fact that she is on "too" high heels speaks volumns and I find this person very sad indeed, whether by her choices or another's. The beginning and ending lend a perfect contrast to right and wrong.

Very interesting dance of words, if I could steal that phrase for a second.
