a love poem for Iowa

by Bob Arcania

Far from everywhere is Iowa
where we do not love. We breathe.

We do not love because we do
not tango. We have winters.

We breathe so that we see
our breath and that is all

we need. We do not have
passion. We have warm coats.

We have scarves and hats
to cover up. In Iowa,

where we do not Love, we
wear heavy boots. We kick

the snow from our paths.

Pretty good love poem, man, if I can be as basic as that.

I'm in Northern Canada, I do not pity you.

First POTD I've actually enjoyed in months. A very smart piece, Bob.

The winter focus on this gives me the shivers. This is quirky and fun in its quirky way. We drove through Iowa a couple of May's ago. It was beautiful and neat and the farms showed great pride. A few days later the rains brought awful flooding. Perhaps Iowa did not want us there. ;) Congrats on POTD!

As your neighbor to the North (Minnesota)... Amen!
