day. the beautiful but jagged

by Emily Tong

some days are more or less
than what they seem but more
oft than not
they are more I think
more under the surface
methinks lies a whale of a tale
under the ripples and
undertows dragging me down
down ever down
to sandy pits and jagged
but beautiful coral reefs.
these days are like the coral
jagged but beautiful.
That is the price to pay
that is the wager for a bad day
a day when the ship
sunk the whale is stranded
the ripples become a tsunami a
tidal wave
crashing and burning
you wait beneath it
seeing everything and doing
nothing because nothing
can be done to stop
the beautiful but jagged day.

Author's Note: more of a thought flow than an acutal poem i think..
but i liked the way it sounded when i wrote it down.
