Gimme!

by Tracy Ellen

I don’t think like you people do
And it irritates me on different levels
Frustrated with myself and you
Pretentious in soundless trebles

And yet, here I am, right with you
Stinking and sometimes soaring
Into mine and these many minds, so blue
Sometimes sparking and sometimes boring

I’m tired of introspection, gimme hews
Landscapes, memories, moments of horror
Something original that I can use and abuse
Something fresh, like a welcomed tomorrow

Satisfaction, where and when can it be found?
I’ve felt it, honestly, time to time, here and there
Now and again, hidden in spilled word & sound
At times carefully planned, at times free of care.

So give me something imperfect, simple, and sweet
Mean, cool, crazy and wise, I command it of you guys
And I, no more craft poems made thesaurus neat
No more poems meant for first prize and smart eyes.
Gimme tongue-in-cheek and a nice beat………….
