August night by Richard Trotter
Visions of elusive beauty
Provide no consolation
For my soul’s disunity
And its helpless isolation
For what is the value
Of red fragile flowers
When no ones beside you
To fill the empty hours?
And discontent is the cost
Of a sparkling August night
When it seems that all is lost
For the victims of daylight.
