Blank Books

To pen a word or two.
After so many long years
Of filling napkins, scraps of paper
Jotted down in darkened halls
I finally learned the lesson
And began penning words into
Blank books.
Blank books?
What an arcane thought!
How could a book be a book
If it is blank?
I am always ready
To pen a word, or two,
Or two thousand
