"My Implosion" by Max PhineasI'm beginning to see clearly
For once.
I see what we're up against.
My pacifism is meaningless in this place,
A nuclear time bomb.
What's worse is
I don't want to be the warrior.
The coldblooded fighter
drained of all remorse.
But I hold my breath, eyes clenched shut
And draw forth, led by my own bloodlust.
For years I have stifled its presence
With hollow words of a desperate peacekeeper.
Alas, diplomat no more,
I am a hardened veteran of the War on War. 10/02/2006 Posted on 10/03/2006 Copyright © 2024 Max Phineas

Posted by Angela Nuzzo on 10/03/06 at 04:35 AM Very powerful for one so young. A tragedy of this modern world is that children are forced to "grow up" way too fast. I'm going to be a "desperate peacekeeper" for as long as I can. I don't want to become hardened. :) Nice poem! |
