9-29

by Ava Blu

twenty-six, but like an eighty year old woman,
she now takes 10 pills a day;

the days of her youth have begun to be missed
when she sees more gray hairs protruding
like a new bud on a wilted rose.

Well conveyed. Makes me wonder though, are the pills prescribed due to an illness like AIDS or abused?
