ghjissst. by Jared Fladelandpinder panter ponder like a panther
follow up the phonecalls with a fancy folded flattener
i've got pills prickling in the pickles
picnicing in the panic of a previous encounter.
and i am germinating like
a million solar panels
stretching his neck out for a slice of life
to bleed into a thousand cables
that direct my jolted jammies
into a trillion homes beyond the horizon.
finish the family book of
who did what in the where and how
why and when, hen, end.
This is a test
of the outer limits of poetry
and can you hum along like children do
when they discover a melody that
hooks their ear like a fish lure
from something bigger than human that tugs them along
at the speed of light. 09/17/2006 Posted on 09/18/2006 Copyright © 2024 Jared Fladeland

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 09/18/06 at 01:58 PM This is fun to read and a child would love it also. Nice last stanza. Still pretty controlled, though - :):). I can see this spin further and longer - heck, I just want to read more!! |
Posted by Leslie Ann Eisenberg on 09/29/06 at 04:57 AM dude! i was wrapped up in the singing linguistics here. childlike in a way, but approached so artfully. perhaps it is a good reminder to the adults to STOP thinking so much and just enjoy the sound of language. pure poetry! PK |
