Old Dreamer

by Glenn Currier

I was walkin down the street
came across this old man
he was slumpin in a chair
spittin chaw in a can.

Boney fingers barely moved
on his knees with a beat
I could not hear only see
in the taps of his feet.

The mangy dog that laid there
at his side raised his head
I swear nodded back at me
in a language unsaid.

Bet you think that he's all done
but he still has his dreams
at the setting of the sun
his old soul still has its gleam.

A picture of an old man who has not yet given up on life even though outward appearances may look that way. A great poem of caring and respect for the elderly.
