resolved

by Peter Humphreys

as if
squinting
through
an half open
door
keeping you
out
but
keeping me
in
I see
a light
come
seering
through
piercing
my temples
as if
anew
I am drawn
so drawn
within
and
as
the door
opens
bit
by
bit
I know
there is
no going back
and
through
the crack
I seem
to hear
voices
of those
I hold
so dear
yet cannot
see
this day

slowly
slowly
I
am
resolved
to enter
that light
and
let
it
be

yet inner
strength
or
is it
folly
prizes open
my eyes
as if
sealed shut
and
brightness
fades
to grey

the door
has gone
if
for a while
I hear
my friends
no more

a tear
rolls
from
my
eye

Near death? It's a lovely thought that people are waiting to greet you, ready to shout SURPRISE!

Peter, that door awaits us all, either side carries it own unique brand of resolve. Really like this look at your door. Thanks.

You build the tension very well here - bit by bit :), and leave me wanting more.
