a moment

by Peter Humphreys

before our eyes
the landscape
broadens
wandering
river
vineyards
wind
on the bench
we sit
and ponder
futures
for mankind
or
maybe just
the weather

within our view
the Vosges
verge
as
Eifel forests
green the eye
and castles
perched on
powerfilled
pillars
pierce
the pink
the blue
the sky

whilst
we wonder
why
above our
heads
the vapours
trail
and
cross

a moment
a precious moment
a moment true

What an inspiring location, Peter! At one time the frontier between France and Germany. Grès Vosgien, with their fine forests below and open pasturages above. Must be just incredible! Thanks for this excellent poem.

"the pink, the blue, the sky" - I love all of this. A fine ending.
