Have you ever asked a tree
to hold you in her shade-
or to show you all the fruit
that she has ever made?

Would you climb a tree
and pick her purple plum?
Would give your favorite tree
a stick of chewing gum?

Have you ever hugged a tree
or asked an Oak to dance?
Would you waltz with a Maple
or give an Elm the chance?

Would you swing from a Willow
or teach a Pine to fish?
Could you sleep in an apple tree
and teach it how to wish?

Have you walked in the forest
and spoken to the trees-
or sang a tune so softly
it tickled her autumn leaves?
