These are the good ol days

by Mary Ellen Smith

today

my family is fine.

no one is ill.

the wolf has not chewed down the door.

the sky is blue and the grass is green.

there is food to put on the table.

yes, danger is everywhere on the t.v.

the rumblings of unrest grow louder

but right now

today

these are the good ol days

and I know that God is in control.

...And they will always be. Lest we forget who IS in control. Peace to you. Thanks for this little poetic gem!

There's only an atomic explosion outside.. but hey, it's silent in the house. it's a good day. Ha. I like this though. I think it describes many american homes with the amount of discontent out in the world.

This poem gives a close-to-home perspective that is important to remember.

What I would call "realism" with a punch line of pure optimism, " I know God is in control". Amen!
