the color blue

my belly buttonÂ’s blue!
I
looked
down
and itÂ’s true!
my belly buttonÂ’s blue
my pen inkÂ’s blue
my pen inkÂ’s blue
I hung it
‘round my neck
or IÂ’d lose it (like I do)
all day long
nestled snug inside my shirt
just hanginÂ’ around waitinÂ’
while I went about
my work
IÂ’d bring it out
occasionally
to write a thing or two
let me tell you
unequivocally
that my pen inkÂ’s blue!
there must have been
a dry spell
in that sultry afternoon
no need to write a ticket
no need to scribe a rune
now who am I to judge these two
this pen and belly button
but in my undershirtly dark
they must have started somethinÂ’
for when I stripped
to take my shower
I’m tellin’ you – it’s true!
lookinÂ’ in the mirror
back at me
a belly button blue
my belly buttonÂ’s blue
my pen inkÂ’s blue
if somethinÂ’ ever came of this
I donÂ’t know what IÂ’d do
for now IÂ’ll keep them far apart
and pen a poem or two
though colorÂ’s not an issue
this twosome now is through
my belly buttonÂ’s blue
my belly buttonÂ’s blue
my blue inked pen just wrote
“dear john”
so long, so sad, boohooÂ….

Author's Note: I wear a pen around my neck on a string at work as I’m always losing them or they leak in my pant’s pocket. I started getting blue ink spots on my blouses, so decided to experiment with the pen hanging inside my shirt when not in use. I came home to find my belly button covered in blue ink – not a spot of ink anywhere else. Pretty suspicious, if you ask me : )

Great work, it's cute and kinda funny too. It did give you an idea for a poem thou. I realize it wasn't at the time. Soms day you'll look back and have a big laugh yourself. Do you keep it closed or leave it open.? Without the lid. Try a pen, I believe it's by Paper Mate. But, it writes in all angles and it pop up or down when ya click it. :)
