Junemarie's Song

by Junemarie Roldan

My daughter and I, in happier times

Your eyes as grey as the falling rain

You no longer want to play

Your face that now is filled with pain

With memories of yesterday.

Some of which were caused by me

And the father that threw you away

The years that followed in misery

You were always the one to pay.

The frenzied search for love you sought

Was always a battle lost

When precious pieces of you were broken

It just wasn't worth the cost.

You always were so true to yourself

No compromise you gave

You'd give and give to others

Yet yourself you couldn't save.

There is a love just waiting for you

Just stand tall and strong

Someday someone will SEE you

And make your life a song.

Until the end IÂ’ll be with you

You are a part of me

And I'm so proud to call you my own

My girl, my Junemarie

Heartbreaking and beautiful...such a tribute. *hugs* You're a wonderful person... you'd better know that.

Your writing is so full of love that it overshadows any heartbreak. Beautiful work.

Absolutely beautiful! A stunning poem to a daughter you love and want better for her than you had for yourself. I really loved this- a very hearfelt write.

I keep meaning to take note of this: in the last stanza, I don't know if it's a typo...but I ADORE how the two You's blend... "Until the end I’ll be with youYou are a part of me" It's absolutely perfect... so if it is a typo, please never fix it!

An inspiring poem, warmly supportive of your daughter, but easily applicable to other families. Congrats on hitting No. 1! Well deserved.

this kind and naturally flowing piece, allows for a story to be told between your lines, and it pulls us in...no wonder you are at the top of the list...beautiful and touching, a pleasure to read, peace, jewels
