I would

by Mae D Morey

I would
sacrifice a million lifetimes
to earn the moment
when i can walk this tightrope
and fall,
to be caught
in the net
that is you.

I would
sacrifice each mortal heartbeat
for a breath
for a whisper from you
before I die inside
recriminating myself
for the things I may leave unsaid.

I would only try to deserve
the wonder that is your love.
I can only pray you wont say goodbye
when the sparrows sing, having finally said
I love you.

I love this ode. It expresses everything that we are when were human.
