The Blue Dinosaur

by Steven Craig

What ever happened to the Blue Dinosaur?
You just don't see many of them any more.
They've all turned brown, black, or gray
Or became extinct in some by-gone day.

You could always count on the Blue Dinosaur.
One would be there smiling behind an unlocked door.
Or sporting a bandanna and tight fitting mask
Waiting to cut you off at the pass.

The Blue Dinosaur, gazing at you from across the street
On a day so cold that there wasn't enough heat
To maintain the effort alone on the trail
Pursuing a love affair doomed to fail.

I guess the Blue Dinosaur just felt so far down
That it just packed up and left this here old town.
And the tracks of the Blue Dinosaur imprinted in the dust
Are all that is left of the times dear to us.

What ever happened to the Blue Dinosaur?
You just don't see many of them any more.
