It’s Grrrreat!!! (an ode to my obsession)

by Leslie Ann Eisenberg

I have one bowl of cereal
in the morning before the gym
one bowl of fortified frosted flakes
and I’ll crank barbells like popeye
and sing a joyful hymn

I have two bowls of cereal
when I get home from work
two bowls of Rice Krispies
snapcracklepop into a stupored nap,
spoiling dinner with my afternoon quirk

I have three bowls of cereal
right before I go to bed,
three bowls of Lucky Charms,
three bowls to drown me sorrows,
but I’d settle for a leprechaun instead!

I grew up with Tony The Tiger and got my education from the back of the box. I love your poem but if you don't cut back on fibre you're liable to turn into a tree, hehe!!! pe4ce...

Sometimes when I'm lonely, I pour a bowl of Rice Krispies, just to hear the snap, crackle, and pop talk to me. Hey, it's better than nothing. An amusing, entertaining write. Good job!

I love the one two three of this, stanza by stanza... it is funny and full of zest! Like your exercises...you count there too!

Frosted flakes before going to the gym cracks me up! Pumping iron with a sugar high. This poem has so much energy and like all of your work, is self revealing as well. I can't stop grinning!

my best friend may be the only person who could challenge you for the most cereal consumed in a single day.

It says something about us adults -- all these comments over our childhood cereals! I love this! *He saunters off to find some 'Cimminon' Toast Crunch from days of yore...*
