03. lungotevere by Peter Humphreyslast night
as we
walked
home
light
filtered
through
green
and dappled
leaves
beside
the Tiber
broad and wide
standing
together
from the bridge
we
watched
in silence
as swallows
zigg
zagged
across
the Tiber
broad and wide
gliding
playing
darting
feeding
mating
loving
swooping
soaring
surging
over
the Tiber
broad and wide
you held
my hand
we laughed
as sunset
came
upon us
unawares
above the
green cream
flowing
Tiber
broad and wide

Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 09/22/06 at 12:33 PM as one who trod along the same warm banks as the Tiber, ( circa summer of 62 ) I can very well relate to this tale and hail it for it sincerity. Thanks for jogging a long receded memory. |
