the higher the antennae the better the reception by Frankie Sanchez
people always say; the funny thing is...
even if what follows isn't really funny,
this is where conversations should be perforated
allowing for removal
of anything unnecessary
just as i precede every feeling i have with an explanation,
as if you didn't already know
that i was sent/imental.
to prove quirkiness,
to fulfill the cliche quota,
i'll smile modestly and say
the brain is the mezzanine overlooking the heart,
and you can respond in any of a number of ways
even if you choose non-response,
the funny thing is:
we both know that silence is not retaliation,
it's indifference,
and maybe if we prolonged these vital life-organs;
these metronomes buried in our chests,
maybe if we worked on our signal,
maybe if we fine-tuned our response time,
maybe then
we'd lose the inconvenient static,
and just maybe
our intentions would be better received.
